One can request for the criminal record of an individual from several government office such as the Department of Public Safety, the Bureau of Investigation and the State Police. The record can also be requested from the county where the person was convicted of the crime. There are now third party companies that can do the search for you for a certain charge. The development of the Internet has allowed the search for the criminal files possible.

The availability of the Internet has made the search for the criminal records a lot easier. The results can be obtained even at the comforts of your own home within just a few clicks. Online search can be done without paying but one cannot expect quality search result. Fee based websites are still preferred by many because of the accurate results that is provided. It is also one of the resources used by lawsuits when investigating a certain case and court proceedings.
