By Mona Moody

Prn software refers to custom computer programs made for an organization. This means that the needs of the company are tailor-made and cannot be satisfied by the conventional generic over the counter systems. Due to this, it can be contrasted from the traditional commercial off the shelf software as being specific and unique to a particular organizations need.

Many are the needs of a business that the over the counter programs cannot address. At such a time, it is best suited to use the tailored programs for that firm. An example of a writing firm preferring custom word editors to Microsoft word is a classic example.

Due to the fact that it is not a generic program, the first step in development is always searching and gathering of information. Next, the programmers may choose to hold interviews to ascertain the truth of assumed data. A study of the existing system always gives positive results for the programmers. Finally, with advice from specialized professionals, the gurus develop the programs as per the requirements of business.

In the development process, the custom made programs are made with ease but differently. First, the program may be developed from start to finish procedurally by following the structured steps of operation within an organization. It is also possible to make a copy of the program and keep improving it until it matches the business system as required. This is called prototyping. Finally, it is also possible to divide the project into various modules and code for each separately. Each phase represents an important business step.

Custom programs have many advantages. For a start they are very specific. They are accurate to the needs of customers. They reflect the business system well and do not need much learning for the staff. Custom programs are secure since each program is unique to a particular organization.

It is important to note that the unique nature of the business system makes it protective to the business system. The program handles the firm requirements with commendable accuracy. The programs also save the firm's money as they are specific and focused on the company system.

However, the programs have some downsides that are not found in conventional programs. The first aspect is that they are every expensive. They may have many flaws in the process of development since the developer has limited prototypes. It may attempt to be too specific and overlook common needs of the company unlike generic software. In the past, generic programs has caused legal battles due to copyright issues among the players in the industry.

Prn software is the most accurate representation of how a business operates. The company may have very specific needs, but the making of this program gives it a chance to enjoy the advantages of technology. This type of program is not only important in provision of taxes to the government, but also makes conducting business easy.
