The Importance Of Having Anti-Virus Software

By David Hennet

The importance of having anti-virus software is for prevention of hacker attacks. Computers become vulnerable when there is no protection to prevent viruses from infiltrating your computer. Allowing an attack leads to vital information being stolen and in some cases identity theft.

What exactly is a virus: Its a program disguised to run in the background of your computer and obtain any piece of knowledge about you and your daily activities online. These types of programs are put together by a person that knows how to create codes and tests them before sending it out into the world to be downloaded onto computers. Some websites you click on will invade your system without you even knowing its happened.

Normal activities are interrupted or at the least made a bit harder to complete. Certain software or programs will begin to open more slowly or not open and run at all. Users will first think they need to clean out their cache or cookies to solve the problem.

When months have gone by, vital things may have been stolen. The thief has can have access to your bank accounts and email accounts. This gives them the ability to move your money from your account to theirs. Your friends and family may also be affected if they were in your contact list or connected to your network.

How are these programs designed: Many of the programs are written by individuals with knowledge of computers and programs that are designed to acquire information. Once the program is made and tested it is then released into the public through websites, emails and videos or other attachments. Everyday users are creating bigger and better programs to steal vital information from innocent people.

What are the various types of viruses: Suppose your computer or networks slow to a crawl. Meaning it takes more time than usual to do one or more things that took only seconds, this is considered a worm. It prevents you from doing tasks at a fast rate and slows you down until you basically give up trying to accomplish anything. It can attack your bandwidth and prevent you from going to websites as normal sending a red flag to your service provider who then in turn contacts you to let you know that your limit is reached.

Constant advertisements that you have problems opening and closing is considered a Trojan. Functions you do not want to happen render your system useless and becomes a frustration for many users. Attachments that spy on you are called malware and not considered as dangerous but will infect and frustrate the user when they begin to see advertisements from places they have visited on the internet.

Knowing the importance of having anti-virus software and its use prevents hackers from infecting your network and stealing your personal information. In today's society, people do not worry about their homes being broken into as they do their computers being hacked by vicious people trying to steal their identity. Save yourself the headache and trouble, obtain great software to prevent this from happening to you.
