ID Coders & The Different Versions Of These Machines

By Keren Kipfer

Industries, such as the food and beverage industries, need to have number markings and labels in order to enhance traceability. There is ID technology that helps in this matter and there are machines that help in the coding, marking and labeling process. These are the id printers, also known as id coders, which print data and information regarding the products. The objective of which is to provide information and make easy tracing in case there are product concerns. There are several kinds of these id coders that these industries can choose.

Data that helps in the identification process, like production or expiration dates as well as serial numbers and other data are the pieces of information printed by these id coder machines. Surface types like plastic packaging, cardboard boxes, glass, Mylar and other packing material types can be difficult to print on, but these machine coders will do the printing easily. Fast printing and inks that dry rapidly are accomplished by these ID coders. When there are product concerns, easy tracing and tracking can be done, and this is provided by the number coding on the labels.

These id coders and printers can be the CIJ type or the continuous ink jet coder or the DOD type, which is the drop on demand coder. The CIJ printer produces a stream of small ink droplets which are the means to print the numbers on the product labels. Unused ink droplets are cycled back and reused in printing. DOD printers use a print head with open nozzles and electrical pulse is used in the printing process. Each of these machine printer types has its advantages and also disadvantages, and it's only for the buyer to choose which is to his benefit.

The DOD machine type is the modern and more innovative type of machine printer although the CIJ technology and printers have been in existence for several years already. Prints and markings on the labels often need to be printed with high resolution, and this is provided by the DOD technology. With the DOD type of machine printers, ink is only dispersed when needed, while with CIJ, ink is continuously circulated in the printer. High resolution prints can be expected with DOD technology despite the process being simpler. The designing process of the print head fine nozzles is more demanding, however, and the cost of these machines is often higher.

These id printing machines are great to have but one can also have the refurbished id printing equipment and still produce great results in the prints. Buying these refurbished machines can save a lot for buyers. There are refurbished Domino coders, Willet coders, Video Jet coders, and other brands from many companies that sell these. These refurbished machines will give a lot of savings to buyers and yet they get the same printing results. These companies not only sell the refurbished machines but they do repairs of machines likewise.

Generic ink for these machines also is sold by the ID printing companies that sell refurbished printer and coder machines, and PrintJet.net is one of these companies. The inexpensive ink types sold by these companies include specially formulated generic versions of Altima ink, Videojet ink, Domino inks, Imaje ink, Maxima ink and other major brands. Because you will be buying ink again and again, purchasing from an ID product company will save you a great deal of money.
