The Future Of Plant Growth With Hydro LED Light

By Catalina Nielsen

The lighting technique used in Hydroponics gardening using LEDs is known as hydro LED light. The Lumen Emitting Diodes (LEDs) along with other lights used for this purpose are referred to as Grow Lights. The grow lights, as the name suggests, aid in the growth of the plants and are designed to provide the nourishment that the plants would otherwise receive from sunlight.

Growing plants without soil is termed as Hydro culture and Hydroponics is the advancement or extension of this field. The nutrients which are supplied to the plant in a usual growth scenario are transferred using water and absorption using capillary action or other medium is what differentiates Hydroponics from Hydro culture.

The grow lights or the LED lights play the most important role of the Lumen feed to carry out the process of photosynthesis, which is instrumental for growth of life and formation of energy from combination of carbon dioxide and water, and is necessary for plant growth.

Different types of of grow lamps are available to purchase. A few of the grow lamps other than LEDs, and their characteristics are listed below. Incandescent bulbs: They emit bright white Lumen at relatively high temperatures. High-Intensity Discharge (HID): HID bulbs last longer and emit more usable light. They contain mercury vapor inside them and hence, a breakage could release the toxic vapors into the atmosphere.

LEDs are unquestionably the most efficient as they consume less energy and emit the Lumen of particular color as required by the plant for its growth, out of the whole spectrum of colors. They are more durable and last longer. In addition to being small in size and emitting less heat, they offer a high luminous efficiency.

The ability of the LED light to adjust to the purpose of emitting Lumen of a particular frequency, undoubtedly, gives it an edge. Different plants need Lumen of different colors at various stages of its growth. By using adjustable color filters of separate LEDs, the equipment manages to emit the particularly colored light that the plant needs at that stage of its growth.

An important criterion to bear in mind while finalizing a grow Lumen for ones plants is the wattage of the Lumen. The wattage is measured in lumens, which in turn is a unit of measure of amount of visible Lumen emitted by a source. The wattage should be decided on two basic factors. Firstly, the type of plant. For example, a lettuce plant needs less Lumen whereas a tomato plant needs more; secondly, the size of the room. This is to make sure that the light is neither too much that it goes wasted and unutilized nor too less that it does not meet the plant requirements.

The future of the hydro LED light is as bright as the effectiveness of LED in today's electronic circuitry, as the latest LED TVs. The soil which was considered the most important part of any plant growth is also the most vulnerable source from where the insects grow in the field and is also the source of passing the pesticides and insecticides crop after crop in the food chain. This soilless technique if properly used shall help to provide a more efficient growth and can help design the future of plantation without the dependence of sunlight.
